Help Us Grow

Help Us Grow
Here at Answers for Pilots we realize that to keep our site information chocked at all times we need visitors. I can only do so much promoting myself, so I am hoping to have users of the site lend a hand. There are literally thousands of ways you could help to expand our horizons, and I plan to outline a few of them on this page. Listed below are just a few ways you can help our community grow, leading to a richer environment.

Word of Mouth
Spreading news of our site by word of mouth is the undoubtedly the easiest, and likely the most effective form of promotion. If you think our site is good enough to recommend to a friend, then go ahead and do it. If you think there are areas we need to improve on then please contact us. Ultimately we seek to be a resource for all pilots, but we must first jump the hurdle of being unknown. Four months ago Answers for Pilots did not exist, and now that it does we need to make sure it is a resource aviators are familiar with.

Web Promotion
The internet is the best place to promote a site due to the fact that users can choose to visit as soon as they hear about us. There are many ways to promote a website through the internet. Those of you with twitter, facebook, or any other social networking accounts can tell your friends about us by dropping a link. An example of this would be posting a public status update along the lines of:

Check out this neat site I came across today. They make it possible for pilots to ask and answer aviation questions quickly and for free. http://www.answersforpilots.com

If you frequently traffic a certain forum you could include a link to our site in your signature along with some text about us. Perhaps you manage your own website. In that case you could back link to us from one of your pages. If you’re really ambitious you could send an email out to fellow aviators about our site, and what we have to offer.

Flyer for FBO
I recently developed a flyer for aviators to hang at their local airport in promotion of Answers for Pilots. The flyer talks about who I am, what my goals are for the site, and how to access it. If you choose to pin one of these up at your FBO I would appreciate a notification as to which airport it was hung at. You notify us of this through the contact page.

A great way to learn something new and help us out at the same time is to simply use our site. The more activity we have and the more questions and answers being posted the higher we will rank in Google. This will help us generate more search engine traffic which will in turn be contributing to our content. You can do this by asking a new question, answering an open one, or even contributing to an answered question. In doing this I can almost guarantee you will learn something new, while helping us out.

Featured Blogger
At Answers for Pilots, we are always looking for a featured blogger. If it’s about aviation we’ll take it. Personally I think the more diverse our blogs content is, the more interesting it will be to readers

I typically write about an aviation topic in the news, but will sometimes write about flight training, techniques, accidents/incidents, and much more. I am looking for someone who can contribute to my writing in their own way. You could write a 250 to 2000 word blog on anything aviation that interested you. I could also republish a work of yours as long as you have the copyright title.

This position would be unpaid, as my site is in its launch phase and subsequently not generating any income. However, a featured writer would be entitled to some sort of self promotion through my site. This could include a link to your website, or a promotional statement about a service you offer. All featured blogger inquires should contact the administrator through the .

Donations are always appreciated. Please keep in mind that although this site does serve ads, we have still not broken even with our investment of hosting and domain registration. Not to mention the countless hours spent working on content, coding, features, etc (for a complete write up of website earnings/expenses please click here). I expected nothing less when I embarked on this challenge, and I have no regrets in doing so. My goal is to make your life easier, and if I am doing so… let me know.
